Prayer has been a part of the life at Sunrise, since the beginning of the church. Specifically one group met weekly to pray for the church and the concerns of the church. During the Spring of 2006, a leadership team formed and began to explore the many aspects of prayer and the scriptural depths of prayer. This team formed because one lay person stepped forward and said – I want to grow in my prayer life and I am willing to lead an effort in this area on behalf of the church. The purpose of the Prayer Leadership Team is to encourage prayer in the community of faith at Sunrise, provide opportunities to grow in prayer and build prayer ministries.

Currently we have several regular prayer meetings. These include prayer with the Pastor prior to service on Sunday morning, the Pastor's Prayer Shield, and the regular Prayer Ministry email list.

Men’s ministry began with a group of men who wanted to enjoy relationships with other men and grow in the faith as godly men. One group became two groups and now a third is in the forming stage. These men have attended Promise Keeper Events, worked on work projects together and are involved in giving to the community. While these men learn together, work side by side they also have a lot of fun together.

Women’s ministry at Sunrise began with women enjoying fellowship with one another through retreats and small groups. In August 2007, a Women’s Ministry Lay leader was added to the Leadership Team at Sunrise. Women have enjoyed the experience of social and spiritual events, as well as working together on service/mission projects.

The Worship Team is made up of volunteer members dedicated to a deep and meaningful worship experience on Sunday Mornings. The team meets on Wednesday nights for practice and fellowship.

The Youth at Sunrise are amazing! They have a grand heart for missions and demonstrate it by serving and leading on 5th Saturdays at Samaritan Ministries, serving on work teams that helped in the rebuilding after Katrina (Click to view Youth at National Missions) and so much more. The often attend Christian Concerts together and are beginning to form more small groups. Join this group of young people on Sunday morning during the Sunday School hour and on Sunday night during youth fellowship.

Sunrise is a place where children are welcomed! Children can be children at Sunrise and are not expected to be little adults. Sunrise embraces the heart of Jesus – when Jesus said – let the children come. Sunrise is a place where children are loved and cherished and where we take seriously the call of helping one another raise children in a loving and safe environment. Sunrise is a place where your child will be known by name. Ultimately our goal is for children to get to know God as a loving guide in their lives and experience a life-long relationship with God.

We invite all children ages 3-6 and 7-10 to join us at Sunrise UMC on the 1st and 3rd Sunday evenings from 5:30 p m until 7pm during the school year. At Kid’s Club we always have a good time. We learn about Jesus through age appropriate stories, song, and drama. The children enjoy food and fellowship in a relaxed fun environment that allows them to be themselves.

Sunrise provides a nursery for infants through five year-olds. Greeters will be happy to direct you to the nursery upon your arrival. Our director, Judi is certified in CPR, First Aid and many other areas in the Red Cross. Under Judi’s supervision the nursery is designed to be a clean and safe environment for the children. Additionally staff have background checks and are trained and supervised while caring for your child. Special care is taken to wash, disinfect and check toys to make sure they are not broken. It is our goal to help you can feel free from distractions as you attend worship, Sunday School or other events. You can be assured that our qualified staff and dedicated volunteers will be attentive to your child.
