Dequincey has served on the staff of Sunrise for the last 10 years, as custodian. Prior to this, he worked for RJR Reynolds Tobacco for 30 years. When Dequincey was asked what motivates him to work in his golden years he said – “it keeps me from going to seed!” He also commented about the truth of the statement – “if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it!” Another motivating factor is that he likes to earn a little extra money to play golf regularly.
Dequincey is an avid golfer and enjoys bowling. He also walks 4 miles, 5 days a week and has done this for 20 years! Dequincey is from York, South Carolina and has lived in Winston-Salem since 1955. Dequincey is a member of St. Paul UMC.
Sunrise has a treasure in Dequincey, if you see him around the church, stop and speak to him – you’ll find a committed worker and a person with a delightful sense of humor. |
